Description
What Are Support Pillars Injection Mold Components?
Support pillars are mold components that are mounted between the backup plate and the rear clamping plate of a mold. They greatly increase the mold’s capacity to support the projected cavity area, preventing deflection during injection pressure. Typically, support pillars are used when building larger molds.
Support Pillars (Plastic Mold Components) for industrial applications. The support pillar has the function of assisting the support plate. when it is undergoing injection pressure, avoiding possible deformations in the plate.
Longer Length Options Threaded Support Pillar is tapped at both ends to allow a second pillar to be attached for a longer overall length.
Support Pillar Injection Mold Component’s drawing and Support Pillar’s Specifications
The support pillars are located between the backup plate and the back clamping plate. They are parallel to the spacer blocks reinforcing the core side of the mold structure. The ejector plate has hollow areas to move freely around the support pillars. The amount of support pillars is estimated on a case-by-case basis. They have the same height as the spacer blocks and usually, they have a cylindrical shape.
The major consideration in establishing the final dimensions of the support pillars is the fitting of these support pillars into the ejector plate area without creating any interference for the lifters, ejector pins, and/or any other action located on the ejector plate.
