Positioning Components

The purpose of the positioning components of the mold is positioning. The positioning components (stop nails, baffles) on the side locate and guide the injecting/stamping position of the injection/stamping parts to prevent deviation. The positioning components in the forward direction are positioned to prevent the head from being sent over or not in place.

The positioning components series includes tapered interlocks, mold side locks, top locks,  taper block sets, X-series locks, square guide bars, pre-centering units, slide retainers, etc.

Tapered interlock

Mold components tapered interlocks are used for the precise positioning of molds.
The tapered interlock is a mold component used to accurately lock the position between the module and the template in the plastic mold to make the mold work smoothly.

The tapered interlock is a concave-convex combination configuration of the upper positioning block and the lower positioning block.

According to the difference of the convex tapered interlock, it is divided into the oblique tapered interlock and the right-angle tapered interlock. The lower end of the convex positioning block of the oblique tapered interlock and the right-angle tapered interlock is somewhat according to actual needs. There will be a slot for more accurate positioning.

The tapered interlock is a circular main body component made of mold hot work die steel, which is composed of two sets of positioning blocks.

Mold Side Lock

Side locks are machined on the centerline axis, both vertically and horizontally on the outside of the mold. Lock pockets are machined with both halves of the mold clamped together to ensure parallel location.

The General side lock provides positive alignment for molds with interlocking cavities and cores.

Our slide locks are the original, specially designed to effectively prevent operational slipping off the slide in your mold base.

These components are used for precision alignment of the upper and lower portion of a mold. Side locks consist of two pieces: male and female side lock.

Both Male and Female Side Locks are Precision Ground for positive alignment for molds with interlocking cavities and cores.

Side locks are typically machined on the centerline axis, both vertically and horizontally on the outside of the mold.

Mold Top Lock

These components are used for precision alignment of the upper and lower portion of a mold. Top locks consist of two pieces: a male made of black oxide-coated O6 hardened to 60-62 Rc and a female made of TIN-coated S7 hardened to 50-52 Rc.

Top locks are typically machined on the centerline axis, both vertically and horizontally from the face of the mold. Top locks should be machined at the same time as the leader pins and bushings to ensure parallelism and proper location relative to the leader pins.

Standard Top Locks Like side locks, these provide a lock-up location to overcome injection melt pressures with a small degree of engagement protection.

Top locks are typically machined on the centerline axis, both vertically and horizontally from the face of the mold. Top locks should be machined at the same time as the leader pins and bushings to ensure parallelism and proper location relative to the leader pins.

Unlike side locks, top locks are machined in two separate setups, requiring a high degree of machining precision.

The X series side lock for mold provides positive alignment between three adjacent plates when the mold has two parting line openings. This design can be used to provide close alignment for interlock cavities and cores in stripper plates or floating plate type molds.

Slide retainer

Slide Retainer products are generally used to hold slides in a mold when the mold design requires a moving core. Slide Retainers help to facilitate accurate and proper movement within the mold.

The sliding retainer is a sturdy and compact product able to guarantee high loading performance and high longevity. The locking is performed with rollers aimed at minimizing wear, the special design allows for setting the locking position.
